Umar bin Abdul Aziz, surnamed "Al-Khalifat-us-Saleh" (The pious Caliph) was the son of Abdul Aziz, the Governor of Egypt, his caliphate is affectionately referred to as the Fifth and the last Rightly Guided Caliph.. He was born in Egypt and got educated in Medina under the well renowned scholar Abdullah Ibni Umar. He was appointed Governor of Medina in 706 A.D. and later on Caliph Umayyad Caliph Sulaiman Bin Abdul Malik who had great respect for Umar Bin Abdul Aziz nominated him as his successor. As a khalifah his first act after assuming office was the restoration to their rightful owners the properties confiscated by the Umayyad Caliphs. He shuned luxurious life of royalty and lived like a commoner, he preferred to stay in a small tent and left the royal palace. Muhammad Ibn Sirin (born in Basra, Iraq) was a prime imam and a great interpreter of dreams who lived in the 8th century. He was particularly renowned for his extraordinary skill in interpreting dreams as attested by the Arabs' greatest intellectuals, such as Al-Gaheth, Ibn Qutaybah and Ibn Khaldoun, who considered his work as crucial in this field. He used to weep at night and smile and rove around all day. And he fasted every other day. No one was as religious or as knowledgeable as him in his art. His family was so generous that they would not hesitate to offer to their visitor the last loaf of bread in their house.
Said ibn Al-Musayyim was one of the Fuqaha of Medina at the time of caliphate of Umar ibn al-Khattab. He was a student of most of the prominent sahabas such as Hazrat Ali, Umar and more. Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib married the daughter of Abu Hurayrah in order to be closer to him and to learn better the Traditions that he narrated. Said ibn al-Musayyib was well-known for his piety, righteousness and profound devotion to Allah. Everyone accepted him, during his lifetime, as the greatest figure in the field of hadith. He took great efforts and suffered a lot in travelling long distances to collect hadiths. He began, as did Hasan al-Basri in Basra, to give opinions and deliver verdicts on Fiqh when he was around twenty years of age.
Sa'id bin Jubayr (665-714), also known as Abu Muhammad, was originally from Kufa, in modern-day Iraq. He was regarded as one of the leading members of the Tabi'in .He was a leading Fuqaha of his time. Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani and al-Dhahabi praise him greatly in their respective treatises. He also narrated several hadith from Ibn Abbas. He spoke against the tyrant caliphs of his time and was under protest with thier authority. .
Uqba ibn Nafi is called as the "conqueror of Africa," and he was an Arab hero and general who was serving the Umayyad dynasty, Uqba with his army marched from Damascus at the head of ten thousand of the bravest muslim soldeirs and conquered the Maghreb, including present day Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Morocco in North Africa. For eight centuries, the conquest of Constantinople, now Istanbul, Turkey, was a dream for the Muslim commanders. Sultan Salahuddin Ayyubi was an army officer in Nooruddin Zangi's army. When Nooruddin captured Egypt, his forces were led by Salahuddin Ayyubi and he was made the Governor there. After the sudden death of Nooruddin , Ayyubi replaced him as the ruler of the Islamic state. Sultan Salahuddin Ayyubi was even more brave and kind than even Nooruddin. His earnest desire was only to conquer Palestine. He first conquered all the states that surrounding Palestine and then entered Bayt al Maqdis easily. The Christian army opposed him but could not check his advance. This ended the Christian rule in Al Quds, and Salahuddin entered the Al Aqsa Mosque and installed the pulpit that Nooruddin had got built for this mosque.
Abdullah Ibn al-Mubarak was called as the faqih of his times. Ibn Hanbal said, "In the time of Ibn al-Mubarak, there was no one who sought after knowledge more than him". With the intention to learn Islamic uloom, Ibn al-Mubarak travelled numerous places like Yemen, Egypt, Syria, the Hijaz, Basra, Kufa, and studied under almost 4000 scholars.
